Mixologist Salvatore Calabrese ”The Maestro” managed to create the world’s most expensive cocktail this weekend for a mere $8,800. And Calabrese is one of the world’s leading bartenders with numerous awards under her sleeves, such as the famed “Class Awards 2011″ for his outstanding achievement to the industry.

What does this pricey libation consist of? Well, there’s 40ml of 1788 Clos de Griffier Vieux Cognac, 20ml of 1770 Kummel Liqueur, 20ml of 1860 Dubb Orange Curacao and two dashes of Angostura Bitters from the 1900s, explains The Spirits Business.

He broke the Guinness World Record, according to a bar spokesman, but Guinness officials are investigating if it is in fact more “Most Expensive Cocktail” than a cocktail currently on sale in Dubai.

Calabrese calls the cocktail “liquid history in a glass.” The video is a little ridiculous, with Calabrese proudly displaying liquor bottles and dozens of photographers snapping away. But hey, if you’re going to spend so much money on something fleeting, you might as well make a show of it.
