Thousands of hours of footage and endless sleepless nights over the course of three years were needed to create this stunning time lapse video of the Aurora Borealis. And what a final breathtaking result.

It’s readily evident that a tremendous amount of time and careful skill went into creating this project. Chad Blakley, the creator of the video, called the labor-of-love “one of the most amazing experiences of my life.”

The aurora is a natural light display in the sky particularly in the regions close to the poles, caused by the collision of energetic charged particles with atoms in the high altitude atmosphere.

The video was shot in Abisko National Park, Sweden and created by photography tour group Lights Over Lapland.
