Reid Gower has created quite a hit on his very first attempt to produce a timelapse video. His video, “Natural Phenomena,”  is a viral sensation thanks to a stunning imagery that features gorgeous natural sceneries including the Northern Lights above Alaska and a severe lightning storm in Las Vegas, as well as human wonders like the Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany.

“I was rather naive earlier this spring when I thought to myself, ‘Hey, you’ve got a great travel schedule coming up, why not make a timelapse film?’ I had never shot timelapse before and I bit off more than I could chew,” Gower wrote on a Reddit post that helped the video go viral.

Some of the other locations that Gower shot in include Canada, Austria, Vienna, San Francisco, Prague, Hungary, and Turkey; he spent about three months collecting the footage and three months editing it, according to his Twitter profile.

Gower’s YouTube profile says that his life’s passion is to “increase the level of scientific literacy in the general population by using video and social media.”

Mission accomplished… For now.
